Liturgy of the Word for Children
Who: Children of preschool age, kindergarten, and grades 1–3.
What: Children come to 9:00am mass with parents and then are dismissed with catechists (teachers) for readings and reflections at their age level. Children then return to their parents after the homily.
Where: Children meet in the church, then are dismissed with catechists to classrooms in St. Edward School building.
When: Orientation session is Sunday, September 25th at 10:00a.m. after the 9:00a.m. mass in the Lunchroom at the Parish School. This meeting is mandatory for all parents who are required to take turns helping with the Sunday sessions. A detailed calendar will be given at this meeting.
Elementary Religious Education Classes: Grades 1-5
Who: Children in Grades 1-5 (includes First Communion Preparation - see below).
What: Religious Education classroom instruction for appropriate grade levels.
Where: St. Edward the Confessor School Building
When: We have classes for Grades 1-5 on SUNDAY or MONDAY or WEDNESDAY
SUNDAY SESSIONS: 9:00am - 10:30am – once a month parents and children. Go to our Sunday Sessions website.
• NOTE: Parents are required to attend a meeting on September 25 at 9:00 AM. Please meet in the school gymnasium.
MONDAY or WEDNESDAY SESSIONS: 4:30pm - 5:30pm – once a week - children
Note: Parents are required to attend a parent/student orientation in the lower lunchroom of the school building on the first day of class. A classroom map & calendar will be distributed.
First Communion Preparation
Preparation for First Communion is a two-year process. Children may enter the program as early as first grade or any time after that. Preparation classes are also offered:
SUNDAY: 9:00-10:30am – once a month parents and children.
Orientation session for PARENTS ONLY is Sunday, September 25th at 9:00 a.m. in the Lunchroom at the Parish School.

Catechumenate (Sacramental Classes) Adapted for Children (F.I.S.H.) and Teens
Who: For older children who have not received the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist).
What: Intergenerational (parents and children) sessions once a month; home study in between
Where: St. Edward the Confessor School classrooms
When: 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. – Calendars will be given out at the Parents meeting or online
